Shaun White has grown tired of the snow and cement/ramps, so much so that he has taken up an invitation from Rip Curl to surf in the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach this coming Easter (due to kick off on the 3rd April). Pretty exciting news for surfing and Shaun White fans worldwids

In an unprecedented move, Rip Curl have awarded Shaun White a wildcard into their ASP World Tour event at Bells Beach this Easter.
“Shaun is a genius talent in the board-riding realm,” said Rip Curl Group Advertising and Marketing Chairman, Neil Ridgway of the decision. “He has dominated the sports of snowboarding and skateboarding over the best part of the last decade and we’re now giving him a chance to prove his worth in the discipline of surfing.”
White is no stranger to the waves either. He has reportedly been training with none other than Kelly Slater in both wave pools and the ocean to perfect his technique. When asked about his feeling on a pro surfing career, Shaun was his usual gregarious self.
“I think I’ve got a good chance of ruffling some feathers for sure. My carves could use some work, but I think my air game will raise a few eyebrows. I’ve been watching those kids John John (Florence), and Kolohe (Andino) and I know I can at least match what they’ve been doing if not push it a bit further.”
One thing is for sure; ratings for the live webcast of the 51st Annaul Rip Curl Pro will be through the roof at: http://live.ripcurl.com when Shaun enters the water. Having no seed, he’ll match up with his training partner and the greatest surfer of all time, Kelly Slater in his first heat.
