Growing up in a small town in Florida, Andrew started skateboarding at a very young age. MARISMA WELLNESS CENTER: Training Pilates Surf

El Método Pilates se ha demostrado que es un excelente complemento para la práctica de variados deportes, entre ellos, el surf, ya que ayuda a potenciar las cualidades físicas que requiere esta actividad como la fuerza, la resistencia, la concentración, el equilibrio y la flexibilidad. Asimismo, minimiza las dolencias o lesiones propias de este deporte como los problemas de hombros, de cervicales o lumbares. Para la práctica del surf se intenta conseguir un equilibrio muscular entre todos los músculos empleados, hecho que se conseguirá cuanto mayor sea la concentración del deportista. Si una de las características del método Pilates es que enseña a cada uno a conocer su cuerpo, a tener “conciencia corporal” y a saber qué grupos musculares se deben emplear, está claro que este método es eficaz para la práctica de este deporte. Por este motivo desde Marisma Wellness Center han puesto en marcha el programa Training Pilates Surf Marisma (TPS), a través del cual se consigue mejorar la condición física en la práctica del surf...

Shaun White has grown tired of the snow and cement/ramps, so much so that he has taken up an invitation from Rip Curl to surf in the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach this coming Easter (due to kick off on the 3rd April). Pretty exciting news for surfing and Shaun White fans worldwids We don’t much more then what’s on the release below… For Immediate Release. April 1st 2012 ……………………………………………….. In an unprecedented move, Rip Curl have awarded Shaun White a wildcard into their ASP World Tour event at Bells Beach this Easter. “Shaun is a genius talent in the board-riding realm,” said Rip Curl Group Advertising and Marketing Chairman, Neil Ridgway of the decision. “He has dominated the sports of snowboarding and skateboarding over the best part of the last decade and we’re now giving him a chance to prove his worth in the discipline of surfing.” White is no stranger to the waves either. He has reportedly been training with none other than Kelly Slater in both wave pools and the ocean to perfect his technique. When asked about his feeling on a pro surfing career, Shaun was his usual gregarious self. “I think I’ve got a good chance of ruffling some feathers for sure. My carves could use some work, but I think my air game will raise a few eyebrows. I’ve been watching those kids John John (Florence), and Kolohe (Andino) and I know I can at least match what they’ve been doing if not push it a bit further.” One thing is for sure; ratings for the live webcast of the 51st Annaul Rip Curl Pro will be through the roof at: http://live.ripcurl.com when Shaun enters the water.
